ABSTRACT

Climate change is a huge global problem that cannot be further neglected. The overuse of natural resources, deforestation, industrialization, burning of fossil fuels, etc. are the major causes that have made this situation worse. The results include scarcity of drinking water, loss of biodiversity, global warming, depletion of fossil fuel, and an increase in greenhouse gases. Worldwide awareness concerning the sustainable use of natural resources (biomass valorization, recycling of waste, and energy recovery) is growing to promote the protection of the ecosystem. Several policies have been written but not implemented or explored positively; their suitable implementation is still a great challenge. In this chapter, the major causes responsible for climate change, challenges faced by biodiversity and humans, and different policies on climate change are explored. The promotion of sustainable resources such as green technologies, eco-friendly approaches, and ecosystem restoration is discussed.
