ABSTRACT

New advancements in wet lab experiments and informatics are used to generate large amounts of biological data that needs computational approaches to solve the hidden characteristics features and relations. This chapter presents computational biology - its ambience, plans, and approaches for analysis with respect to functional genomics, transcriptomics, and proteomics and how these computational approaches moved the bottleneck from data production to data analysis of omics data. The chapter also introduces the advance tools and databases associated with the omics data analysis such as Next Generation Sequencing technology, DNA-seq, RNA-seq, CHIP-seq, Microarray Gene Expression Data (MGED) ontology, Proteomics Identifications (PRIDE) database, neX-Prot proteomics tool and several other softwares and databases.
