ABSTRACT

Today, blockchain technology is considered one of the most promising and potential innovations. It allows information to be stored and transmitted in a secure, transparent manner without a central authority to control it. One of the main advantages of this technology is the immutability of the stored information. In view of its characteristics, this technology could provide solutions to problems encountered in a rather sensitive field, namely, healthcare. The healthcare sector is facing many problems that some are trying to solve today. The main ones concern the management of medical records and the claims process, accelerating clinical and biomedical research and advancing the biomedical and health data registry. This chapter presents the contribution of blockchain technology in the healthcare field, a field proven more than ever with the advent of the Coronavirus for various cases.
