ABSTRACT

The Pharmaceutical Supply Chain (PSC) contains a wide range of components together with immature pharmaceutical dealers, producers, consultants, pharmacies, and patients. The intricacy of the flow of transactions and goods in the PSC needs an operative tracking system to regulate present and previous rights on goods. The digital tracking process offers the great advantage of controlling inaccuracy and guarantees the security of goods. Tracking of drugs via blockchain provides a viable resolution for building a shared data environment for a consistent, responsive, and transparent system for the PSC. The paper highlights the overview of goods tracking problems in the PSC and considers how blockchain technology can offer a solution for operative tracking to reduce fake or unhealthy drugs. The paper discusses the background of blockchain technology with its features. Further, the paper highlights the overview of drug tracking in the healthcare domain. Moreover, the paper explains the required architectures for drug tracking based on blockchain where Hyperledger fabric, Hyperledger besu, and Ethereum architectures have been discussed along with their drug tracking flow. Finally, the paper examines some challenges that can be leveraged to preserve the healthcare amenities.
