ABSTRACT

Blood pressure is a vital determinant of chance for cardiovascular diseases. This study proposes a method for estimating blood pressure based on biometric parameters. Overall, 156 subjects have participated and their systolic blood pressure, diastolic blood pressure, heart rate, body mass index (BMI) and age are measured. The impact of these parameters on blood pressure is evaluated using regression analysis. BMI is found as a significant factor for change in the blood pressure and the strongest effect is found for 60 years and older people. The error estimation is also reported for performance analysis. The outcomes are also validated utilizing a two-tailed independent sample t-test. An Android Smartphone-based application is implemented based on the model for predicting systolic and diastolic blood pressure values.
