ABSTRACT

Noise pollution is a global problem. It reduces one’s quality of life by disrupting various normal activities like sleeping or having a conversation. It is one of the major causes of deafness, impaired hearing and other health hazards. Sophisticated equipment and technology are used to measure noise pollution but, in this research work, sensors (microphone and GPS) on a simple Android smartphone are used to map the noise pollution in a part of Ludhiana city in Punjab. The NoiseTube Android application has been used to collect the noise data while the noise maps have been prepared using the ArcGIS Online platform.
