ABSTRACT

Currently, we have witnessed the progressive ageing of the population at a global level, thanks to the increase in life expectancy, which in the oncological scenario manifests itself with an increase in older patients to manage, especially in the context of skin cancer. More than 70% of new cancer diagnoses will be performed on older patients within this decade. The term older has also changed because a fitness condition contrasts the chronological limit represented by age, even in the oldest old that cannot preclude them from treatments. It, therefore, becomes essential to know those characteristics that allow us to treat older cancer adults in the best possible way. This chapter focuses on these aspects to provide the vital tools for optimal management of an older patient with skin cancer.
