ABSTRACT

Project managers in biopharma must manage a vast amount of project information. Project schedules, resources, and budgets are just the beginning. Project managers today are expected to provide an environment where the project team can effectively collaborate and rapidly communicate. These tools, collectively referred to as the project management information system, will benefit a project manager if used correctly. This chapter describes the tools that a project manager can use to manage tasks, projects, and portfolios, including resources and budgets. It also describes best practices for information management and communication. We also explore how advanced technologies such as artificial intelligence and robotic process automation may benefit project managers in the future via application to predictive estimation, risk identification, automated reports, chatbots, algorithms, and Monte Carlo simulations.
