ABSTRACT

The first step of the GRIDALL process is to define the project goals. This chapter provides a history and theory of goal, the difference between goals and objectives, the use of goal-setting frameworks such as SMART and OKRs, the process of cascading and aligning goals, and distinctions between committed, stretch, and moonshot goals. It also outlines a three-step process that project managers can use to create project team goals. It also explores some advantages and disadvantages of setting goals with a year-long time span, as most companies do today.15.1 What Are Goals and Why Should a Project Manager Care?
