ABSTRACT

The third step of the GRIDALL process is to manage issues. An issue is an event that disrupts the plan prevents the team from achieving the project goal. An issue can result from a risk being realized or from “out of the blue”. Either way, issues need to be effectively managed to get the project back on track. This chapter outlines a three-step process for identifying, assessing, and resolving an issue either via an in-team decision or escalation to higher levels of the organization. It also explains the importance of correctly framing the issue, using a case study to illustrate the principle.
