ABSTRACT

In recent years, cosmetic products have taken a prominent place in all areas of life. Although some cosmetic products used for body and teeth hygiene have been widely used for many years, today the variety of cosmetic products has increased with industrial technology and the development of many cosmetic formulations for beauty and fragrance. The cosmetics market is particularly important for women, who want to smell good and always want to look better. However, due to the abundance of products and cheap production methods, the side effects of the products are also increasing. The number of people experiencing various skin problems and diseases is increasing on a daily basis. For this reason, there is a demand for a return to natural cosmetic products. Accordingly, cosmetic formulations containing plant extracts and essential oils are being researched and developed. In addition, it is thought that synthetic formulations will be replaced by healthier formulations with the use of metabolites obtained from these plants. Secondary metabolites are substances found in small amounts in plants, some of which are used for pharmacological and cosmetic purposes. The use of these metabolites in cosmetics and hence their contribution to skin diseases directs researchers and manufacturers to nature in terms of human health and safety. It is predicted that cosmetic products with natural ingredients will be preferred more in the future.
