ABSTRACT

The term “drug discovery” conjures up thoughts of lengthy chemistry experiments, large-scale automation, and biological testing, all of which are typically performed in laboratories. Pharmaceutical industries, on the other hand, have been turning to computer-generated procedures with their drug discovery efforts in recent years, taking benefit of the advances in processing and technology that exist in the cloud. Cloud computing refers to the on-demand availability of computer system resources, such as data storage and processing power, without requiring the user to manage them directly. A few commercial businesses are already providing cloud-based drug discovery software to meet the demands of the pharmaceutical industry and a considerably larger cast of supporting and cooperating partners. The objective is to increase the power of cooperation while maintaining the highest levels of feasible security. The benefit of cloud computing is that it allows pharmaceutical researchers to scale up or down their computing environment as needed with a single click. Cloud computing allows businesses to more readily adapt solutions to their individual needs. Pharmaceutical companies may utilise cloud computing to share data in real time, run the same program on several connected computers at the same time, analyse findings faster, and interact with colleagues all over the world in real time. It enables pharmaceutical industries to increase their productivity, collaboration, and resource allocation. The key benefit of cloud computing is that it reduces reliance on internal infrastructures while also streamlining operations around the world. The aim of the authors is to look at the various applications of cloud computing in drug development.
