ABSTRACT

Patient care is a rapidly flourishing sector as it directly deals with the prevention, treatment, and management of diseases or illnesses. During this crucial time of pandemic, its importance has been raised a lot and this has been well recognized all over the world. As in any other field, patient care operations are also adopting cloud computing technology to perform their work more effectively, conveniently, and with superior quality. Basically, cloud computing refers to an on-demand internet service that allows the user to access computing resources in real-time anywhere. This innovative collaboration of patient care and cloud computing is modifying the entire patient care domain, especially in electronic health records, by providing several benefits such as timely access to medical records, enhanced security, improved telehealth and virtual care services, less hectic patient billing and claiming processes, and reduced resource requirements. A few commercial companies providing services to this sector are Microsoft Azure, AWS, NETAPP, and Care Cloud. The authors mainly emphasize the various applications of cloud computing in patient care and the issues that ought to be resolved before adopting cloud computing technology in the healthcare system.
