ABSTRACT

The energy efficiency of cloud computing (CC) is one of the critical and vital factors for large server-based networks. The main challenge of CC is that it consumes high energy, especially with the growth of digital services and applications. Current studies are focused largely on the possibility of reducing consumption of energy in the cloud computing and increasing its efficiency as one of the most important issues in the structure of modern data centers to achieve the green cloud computing (GCC) concept by reducing operating costs in terms of energy and the impact on the environment. Machine learning (ML) plays an important role to optimize the operation of cloud communication to enhance energy efficiency. This chapter provides an overview and details of employing ML to propose energy efficiency solutions in the green cloud communication environment. The chapter also presents a background and literature view. Moreover, it will discuss the ML proposals for green cloud resources management, deepMind AI-based in the cloud data center, its trends, and challenges.
