ABSTRACT

There are different kinds of biopolymers, and one of them is the biodegradable polymer foams. Polymer foams are porous polymer materials whose matrix contains many tiny foam holes inside. In general, these polymer foams have specific properties like low density, good heat and sound insulation, high specific strength or high corrosion resistance. In this chapter we presented a literature review of biofoams, the process techniques and also the most used biodegradable polymers as foams and applications of them in different areas. This knowledge has an essential degree of interest in the scientific field since it can be of great help to guide the research and development processes for future members of the scientific community.
