ABSTRACT

The involvement of the latest technologies and approaches leads human life in the comfort zone to a greater extent. In this chapter, the contribution of artificial intelligence (AI) and new technology, which is known as cloud computing, in the medical and healthcare industries, is discussed. Eventually, a rapid increase in the population in developing countries like India is throwing a greater challenge in managing health-related services. However, AI came into existence in the medical field to contribute its precious support to generating better results. AI techniques can deal with both structured and unstructured healthcare data. Neural network and support vector machine (classical) can analyze structured healthcare data, whereas deep learning and natural language processing are capable of handling non-structured data. There are life-threatening diseases like cancer, neurology, and cardiology that use AI tools. AI can contribute to early detection diagnosis and treatment, as well as consequence estimation and forecast evaluation. On the other hand, the introduction of cloud in healthcare reduces the data storage cost, provides efficient electronic medical data storage, and also improves collaborative patient care. Because data are stored in the cloud, it provides the flexibility and the scalability of higher levels. Scalability in healthcare data opens the path for analysis of big data and hence also increases the options for enhancing medical research. Meanwhile, the combination of cloud along with AI enhances the support and accessibility of healthcare services to a greater extent. In the present chapter, a deeper discussion on the contribution of cloud- and AI-based services in healthcare and the provision of new ideas and future challenges are discussed in detail.
