ABSTRACT

It has been seen from many years that most of the deaths occurred due to improper diagnosis of the patients. Doctors find themselves unable to choose the right method of treatment many times. This may happen because of the unavailability of complete information of the patient’s background, i.e., past illness reports. The concept of internet of things (IoT) can be used in the healthcare industry by implementing BANET. BANET is abbreviated as body area network, and it consists of a large number of wearable devices. With BANET, doctors can get the details about the functioning of different body parts of a patient using different sensors embedded in wearable devices. These details about the functioning of different body parts under some particular scenario can be stored using the concept of big data and can be used in the future. These details can also be sent to research communities. Researchers can formulate new drugs on behalf of the findings when analysis applies on these data. A doctor from a remote area can get assistance from other doctors in case of some medical emergency via the networked connection under an IoT environment. Here, authors are going to present a detailed study about the possible applications of IoT in healthcare, some attacks on the devices used in the healthcare industry, and possible countermeasures. The authors will focus their study on managing smart services provided by wearable devices in internet of healthcare things (IoHT).
