ABSTRACT

Due to inadequate storage and infrastructure, the producer tries to sell the product as soon as feasible. This eliminates their ability to store the stock for better pricing during the off-season and results in a natural market price decline. The marketing of quality apples is hampered by poor marketing intelligence among farmers and a lack of effective grading and sorting at the harvesting stage. Researchers have been interested in the possibilities of various treatments for sustaining the postharvest quality of apples during long-term preservation for decades. As a result, in order to improve the storage life of apple fruit, this study reviewed several postharvest treatments and their effects on apple fruit quality.
