ABSTRACT

The technological developments causing a massive expansion of our carbon footprint have led researchers and designers in recent years to focus on energy efficiency in the field of Internet of Things (IoT), The emerging domain of green IoT investigates the reduction of IoT device energy usage to achieve a sustainable IoT system environment. This paper presents the latest research on energy optimization in the IoT and examines the IoT layered approach and green internet technologies. It also highlights some of the growing issues and challenges that need to be resolved to build an efficient and optimized green IoT environment. Future guidelines for research and discussion on open green IoT issues are presented.
