ABSTRACT

The incidence of diabetes is growing dramatically in India, which is the second-largest country on the planet by population after China. While nearly 20–30% of India’s entire population become diabetic every year, only three out of ten are diagnosed, and the remainder, about 1 million people, die due to diabetes. While we cannot prevent all deaths, we can reduce them by predicting diabetes in its early stages. This chapter describes the use of machine-learning algorithms on the RapidMiner Studio and Microsoft Azure platforms to predict early-stage diabetes.
