ABSTRACT

As the population rises, so does its requirement for food. Rapid production of the major crops is essential to satisfy the population’s basic food requirements, principally wheat, maize, and rice. This chapter introduces systems that use modern advanced technologies such as image processing from deep learning and basic machine-learning classification algorithms in farming. The chapter describes a system to detect the nature of crops and provide appropriate solutions according to growing conditions, for example, calculating the atmospheric conditions (humidity, pH, etc.), and amount of fertilizer needed for the soil to grow a specific crop, thus helping farmers to increase crop production.
