ABSTRACT

Black seed (Nigella sativa) is a comprehensive resource that covers all aspects of this valuable therapeutic plant, which is used universally for its medicinal uses in treating a wide range of human illnesses. It has been discovered to have medicinal purposes such as analgesic actions, antioxidant activity, anti-diabetic uses, and antihypertensive and anti-inflammatory properties, and also can be used to combat ailments and boost health. Additionally, it is known to possess antibacterial, anticancer, neuroprotective, cardioprotective, immunomodulatory and liver-protective properties. The plant’s active ingredient, thymoquinone, also demonstrates these defenses against a variety of diseases. The impacts of this plant on the body’s organ systems are outlined in this chapter.
