ABSTRACT

A question-answering system is a necessity today, as we know that the COVID system has also adversely impacted education; online teaching-learning has somehow reduced that adverse effect. The main goal of any education system is to transform information, impart skills, and finally test the candidate’s performance. When considering the subjective-based scenario, conducting an online exam is a very tedious and complex task. The overall objective-based question-answering system has been adapted for a long time. In this scenario, online assessment is used more efficiently, but it does not solve the problem of students reaching their level of skill and concept understanding in real time. Thus, the need for a subjective question-answer system, even if it is taking place online, is a significant challenge given that one-word or short answers are still unable to solve the long answer evaluation. However, one thing needs to happen, and this is where the subjective question answer is to be explored in-depth and the automatic creation of subjective question-answer systems for different types of examinations at different levels using a mixed approach: Evaluation is necessary. This chapter talks in detail about the components, application challenges, and approaches, and even discusses a case study on how the subjective question-answering system can be implemented.
