ABSTRACT

The poultry birds imparted climate resilience during flash floods in the rice cropping reason that washed away the crop, by virtue of offering monetary returns, unaffected by floods. The baseline survey of the project indicated that the gross household annual income in Wetland clusters is 31,822.11. In the upland clusters, integrating goats rearing with crops of farmer's choice like vegetables or flower crops or millets, in sequence, enhanced the livelihood of small and marginal farmers. The baseline survey indicated that annual income of farmers in upland clusters was 30,398, in all the three districts. In the upland clusters, the goats given to 300 farmers multiplied to 6000 at the end of four years after the sale of ten goats by a development partner. Integrating other farm enterprises with the traditional cropping pattern in small holder farms offers good scope for climate resilience, enhancing livelihoods and in imparting environmental security.
