ABSTRACT

In several regions of Mexico, weeds cause losses in agriculture. The control of weeds depends on the use of chemically synthesized herbicides; however, present herbicides present problems of resistance, affectation of agricultural soils, and damage to human health; therefore, ecological alternatives, such as plant extracts, are currently being sought. The potential of plant extracts as bioherbicides is described as an alternative for the development of agriculture, as they present chemical mixtures with biological properties and are an alternative for weed control because the contents of their compounds are harmless and biodegradable.
