ABSTRACT

Enhydra fluctuans Lour. belongs to the family Asteraceae and is found in tropical wetlands of South Asia. The plant, also known as water spinach, is considered medicinal due to its diverse phytoconstituents and ethnomedicinal applications. Pharmacologically, the plant has beneficial properties such as antimicrobial, antidiabetic, anticancer, antioxidant, insecticidal, analgesic, antidiarrhoeal, neuroprotective, antiplatelet, anti-ulcer, phagocytic, neuroprotective, and cytoprotective activities. This chapter describes the ethnomedicinal uses, pharmacological activities, and phytochemicals of Enhydra fluctuans.
