ABSTRACT

Hydnum repandum, mycorrhizal fungi is an edible mushroom having bitter taste generally distributed in Europe and North America. This mushroom is low in fat and high in protein and mineral content. H. Repandum is generally considered safe to eat when cooked, but when eaten raw, humans may develop some allergies. This mushroom consists of dietary components like carbohydrates, fatty acids, and minerals. Some indole compounds have also been detected in this mushroom like melatonin, L-tryptophan which are mainly responsible for antioxidant activity of H. repandum. In the present study portrayed, it is found that this mushroom consists of some phytochemicals, anti-oxidants, and cytotoxins, and these Bioactive compounds present in this mushroom can have a good potential as a source of medicinal remedies.
