ABSTRACT
Artificial Intelligence (AI) has emerged as a promising technology to automate the processing of complex data. AI has several categories, of which machine learning is the most popular technique. Deep learning, an advanced form of machine learning, has demonstrated successes in analysing high dimensional data to a higher degree than any other algorithmic approach. These developments have resulted in many promising applications, including in medicine. This chapter introduces AI, including its definition, categories, and its use in healthcare.
