ABSTRACT

The application of medicinal plants and herbs has been raised in the modern world to cure numerous illnesses with much less poisonous effects. Nowadays, herbal products are available in various forms in the market, including liquid preparation such as teas, tinctures, etc., as well as powders such as dried extracts in tablets or capsules. Novel drugs are now a prominent part of the modern world. Several methods are used to develop herbal formulations, divided into traditional and novel techniques. Improved bioavailability, reduced toxicity with higher stability, solubility, better tissue macrophage distribution, and sustained delivery are the notable benefits of novel formulations over traditional ones. This chapter addresses an overview of various dried herbs and spices along with their preparation methods as well as ways for developing herbal and medicinal plants formulations, packaging, labelling, storage, and transportation conditions are also discussed in the following contents.
