ABSTRACT

Rapid development of miniature sensors, Micro Electro Mechanical System (MEMS), wireless communication, integrated circuits (ICs) etc. gave the chance to monitor the health remotely. It is referred as Wireless Body Area Networks (WBANs). Varieties of biomedical sensor nodes (SNs) are deployed in, on or around the human body to sense the physique activity. These SNs are equipped with limited battery power and storage space. Now days healthcare industries are using WBANs widely to reduce the gathering in hospitals area. Handicapped and old persons don’t need to travel. Infection rate in society is getting low. IEEE 802.15.6 standard is given for WBANs. This paper also discusses about the data rate & power consumption of SNs. Frequent depletion of SNs is the major concern for WBANs. Optimized routing algorithm is the most effective way to make it more feasible. Regarding this, we improve the performance of SIMPLE (Stable Increased-throughput Multihop Protocol for Link Efficiency) routing w.r.t throughput and stability period of WBANs. Simulation work is carried out in MATLAB. At last, some problems have been identified for future improvement.
