ABSTRACT

Family with perennial herbaceous plants, with tunicate bulbs attached to a short rhizome. The leaves are basal, and the stem is scapiform. The flowers are hermaphroditic, actinomorphic, trimerous, arranged in uniparous cymes inflorescences, in umbeliform or capituliform groups. The inflorescences are protected by protective bracteate leaves (spathes), and the flowers have septate nectaries. The fruit is a loculicidal capsule, and the seeds are black. The family includes 2 genera: Nectaroscordum Lindl. with a single species and Allium L. with 26 species in the spontaneous flora of Romania.1– 3
