ABSTRACT
This chapter focuses on Earth observation (EO) dashboards. There are specific challenges associated with designing reusable EO dashboards for a wide spectrum of Earth science use cases. The chapter discusses those challenges with special focus on using open science principles for development. The chapter also provides details of the VEDA concept (Visualization, Exploration, and Data Analysis: Scalable and Interactive System for Science Data) as a response to these challenges and requirements. The design and development process utilized to materialize VEDA from a concept to actual platform is described. Finally, the chapter describes assessment of the current technologies that support the VEDA ecosystem and the design choices related to their selection including current limitations of design.
