ABSTRACT

In an aquaponics system, due to changes in environmental conditions and the water quality, the condition of plants and fish can be easily affected. If the environmental conditions are maintained constantly and water quality is maintained, the yield can be improved. With the assistance of Internet of Things (IoT), the aquaponics system can be converted into a real-time monitoring system and the monitoring can be processed from any remote location by using Internet. Cloud computing integrated along with IoT for storing, monitoring and performing analytics on the data received from the sensor node. In this study, we have proposed aquaponic sensing unit, edge based gateway and ZigBee based communication for real time monitoring of the aquaponics system. The parameters sensed are transmitted to the edge gateway by means of ZigBee communication. The sensed data is transmitted to cloud server using internet protocol. From the cloud server, the authorities can access through the web application and mobile application.
