ABSTRACT

A 13-month-old female with a cloaca with the urethral orifice visible but hypospadic (cloaca type 1) was referred at age 1 month. This case is very close anatomically to an imperforate anus case with a rectovestibular fistula. The patient did not pass meconium on the first day of life and she underwent a cross table lateral x-ray, which showed an air column in the rectum very close to the perineal skin. A renal US showed no hydronephrosis and the patient was voiding spontaneously. The patient had a divided sigmoid colostomy performed on day 1 of life.
