ABSTRACT

Vermiculture is the cultivation of annelid worms like earthworms or blood-worms that are used for the purpose of bait or in composting. Vermicom-posting is the process of production of vermicompost that contains several water-soluble nutrients, excellent natural nutrient-rich organic fertilizer, and a soil conditioner. Production systems like batch reactors (containers on legs or the ground), stacked bins or containers, windrow systems on the concrete or the ground, and continuous flow reactors are generally designed for the bulk production of vermiculture and vermicompost. Some of the commercial products obtained in vermiculture and vermicomposting are the production of vermicompost and its products, plastic degradation, bioturbation, worms for bait or feed, and medicines.
