ABSTRACT

This chapter focuses on the current literature on the use of carbon nanotubes (CNTs)-based nanocomposite in the healthcare industry. Excep-tional and unique properties of CNTs made them candidates to fulfill all the requirements for scaffold constructs in nerve tissue engineering, since they are capable of providing a favorable extracellular environment for cell adhesion. However, toxicity and biocompatibility of CNTs still remain controversial. This chapter also describes the possible utilization of nanocomposite–CNTs in drug delivery systems.
