ABSTRACT

The need for improved real time traffic information is ever increasing in the region. Traffic issues have a negative effect on the quality of life of people who use the bus systems, with the problems arising including time wastages and not being able to plan due to the lack of bus route information. To this end, this chapter aims to test the feasibility for future integration and implementation of a smart bus system (SBS) in Kurdistan using the internet of things (IoT) paradigm.

Simulations have been carried out to evaluate the proposed model and the results show the feasibility of the system. In particular, the results show all the required metrical information order for the system to work properly was being produced the way it was designed to.

In the proposed system, we developed an approach that integrate the convenience of being able to access information at the fingertips for all users while maintaining the effectiveness of the system itself to make sure it provides an easy transition for the population to this new technology enabled system.

This leads on the path for the implementation of the SBS while being a feasible one to ease into the community.
