ABSTRACT

Perovskite solar cell (PSC) is one of most attractive solar cell in the third-generation solar cells, which have the ability to commercialize as a future photovoltaics technology. The active layer in PSC is absorbing only the visible photon, while the ultraviolet (UV) and near-infrared (NIR) parts in solar spectrum is promoting different kind of losses in solar cell. Wavelength dependent photon conversions have been discovered for improving the conversion of energy in a single-junction solar cell in recent years. The combination of upconversion and downconversion (DC) photon conversion materials is a novel approach to extend the response of the UV and NIR radiation in PSC for future photovoltaic technology. The DC process in the solar cells was theoretically shown to lead an enlarged conversion efficiency of 36.5% in a single-junction solar cell configuration for the non-concentrated sunlight.
