ABSTRACT
This chapter investigates medical marijuana (MMJ) tourism, focusing on its history and overview of the market in the wake of the 2014 recreational cannabis legalization in Colorado, USA. Emerged as an important SIT market, medical cannabis has been a hot topic in a broad medical tourism (MT) spectrum, ranging from a wellness offering at a high-end spa to an effective treatment for chronic children’s illnesses. This chapter also discusses current trends and issues surrounding MMJ tourism and concludes with pressing challenges facing the MMJ tourism market in Colorado.
