ABSTRACT

Today, technological advancements based on Internet of Things (IoT), wearable devices, networking, computing, and artificial intelligence are playing a prominent role in healthcare. The healthcare industry is rigorously working on smart healthcare systems to improve the different aspects of healthcare, such as prompt and correct treatment to patients. Smart healthcare would be beneficial in monitoring patients’ health conditions remotely using IoT, which would save millions of patients in critical care. This chapter will explain components of smart healthcare systems, the architecture of heterogeneous IoT, applications of IoT-based healthcare devices, and security aspects of IoT healthcare. Finally, the challenges and open issues in smart healthcare systems are discussed.
