ABSTRACT

The future of industrial systems, as embodied in Industry 4.0, is contingent upon the confluence of current research in the disciplines of control architectures, cyber-physical systems (CPSs), and the Internet of Things (IoT). With the increasing vulnerability of industrial systems, innovative ways and extended ecosystem management are essential to counter and mitigate these threats. Blockchain embodies this innovation and represents a potential antidote to the cybersecurity risks of Industry 4.0. This chapter provides an in-depth examination and discussion of blockchain-based cybersecurity for CPS.
