ABSTRACT
The overutilization of plastic and polyethylenes (PE) has imposed a global threat to environment due to its non-biodegradable and xenobiotic constitution. Further, physical, and chemical methods of degradation are not effective on them due to their resistive nature. This chapter discusses the alternative and effective methods and mechanisms mediated by microbes in the process of microbial degradation using microbial enzymes present in hemisphere such as laccases, oxygenases, lipases, and many more.
