ABSTRACT

For a long time, industrialization and urbanization inevitably generate a number of environmental problems in many parts of the world. More and more pollutants are being released into the atmosphere. Among these products, persistent organic pollutants (POPs) pose a serious threat to human health and the environment around the word. These organic compounds resist environmental degradation, which takes place through chemical and biological process. Among these products, polychlorinated biphenyl (PCB) considered as one of the major factors affecting biodiversity. Indeed, the consequence of their use are characterized first of all in the short term by a direct or indirect intoxication or organisms, a reduction in the supply of food, non-fatal effects on reproduction and behavior. They can thus be the source of imbalances in ecosystems. In this context, our ecosystem nowadays in need for a rapid adoption of global measures in order to reduce or even eliminates the quantities of these chemicals.
