ABSTRACT

Human beings who live in cities spend more than 90% of their time indoors. Nonetheless, for an adequate assimilation of nutrients from food, and healthy physiological and mental health, it is necessary to carry out outdoor activities. This is a clear indicator that the use of urban spaces requires adequate conditions for a longer stay in them. The climate determines the thermal environment conditions in the city’s urban spaces. The work method for the adaptation to the urban thermal environment analysis is made up of four main sections: research characteristics; urban thermal environment and health; thermal comfort in the urban environment; and neutral temperature and physiological temperature. Just as in physical health, mental health is also positively affected by the urban environment. Mental health is a set of social, emotional, and psychological factors that nourish the individual’s feeling of well-being.
