A history of menageries, zoos, zoological gardens, aquariums and conservation centers in India. This includes the ancient Vedic, Gupta and Mogul periods, as well as the more recent European period. It includes the princely zoos, the colonial zoos and the independent India zoos. It explains how India manages its zoos and its wildlife conservation, as well as what this means for the future.
