ABSTRACT

Diabetes or diabetes mellitus (DM) is derived from the Greek word which means “diabino” and which signifies “I pass through the diabetes,” it is a situation through which running of fluid occurs. Following the footsteps of Areateus, it is possible to esteem the medical presentation and analysis of DM. It is a magnificent love, and it is uncommon in men. However, track is familiar one such as the kidneys and the bladder, in those patients who does not stop making water, but the flow of water is persistent and the disease 4becomes chronic and disease takes prolonged time to form; however, life of patients becomes short-term, once the symptoms of the disease become absolutely developed; for the melting is fast and immediate death. The diagnosis of DM remains unclear for many years which results in chronic effects due to the persistent hyperglycemia. It is a polygenic disorder that produces because of the complex interaction among various genes and environmental aspects. DM is associated with “aging and lifestyle conditions,” such as no physical activity, sedentary habits, smoking of cigarette and continuous intake of alcohol significantly contributes in the progression of DM severity. This chapter summarizes the various historical perspectives, diagnostic features, risk factors, and classification criteria.
