ABSTRACT

There has been a huge increase in network intrusion assaults in recent years, which creates serious privacy and security concerns. Because of technological advancements, cybersecurity threats are growing increasingly complicated, and present detection methods are unable to solve the problem. As a result, putting in place an intelligent and effective network intrusion detection system (NIDS) would be critical in resolving this issue. With the rise in Internet usage, a tremendous quantity of data is being shared between various communication devices. Data must be exchanged securely between interacting devices; hence, network security is the most important study field in a network environment. As a result, NIDSs are commonly used together with other security techniques like firewalls and access control. The study proposed presents a new profound learning paradigm to enable the operation of NIDS in modern networks. This chapter addresses Internet of Things (IoT) concepts, protocols, and implementation difficulties for various IoT technologies and devices. It focuses on IoT security concerns such as privacy, authentication, data integrity, and service availability, with a focus on hardware elements. Attacks and current weaknesses are considered, as well as countermeasures.
