ABSTRACT
This chapter reviews the basic processes involved in petroleum refining including drilling, refining/processing, and transportation/transmission. Primary petrochemical products currently manufactured in the United States are also highlighted. Four illustrative examples and four problems are presented that relate to health and environmental risk applications for the petroleum refining industry.
