ABSTRACT

Almost the whole world is in crisis due to novel COVID-19 pandemic, which has surpassed territorial, political, ideological, religious, cultural, and academic boundaries, due to severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus-2. It is an open challenge for the chemists and engineers to develop the effective drug and vaccine for its prevention as well as treatment. Even though much work has started but still there is no effective procedure. Even though the widespread clinical study of patients is introduced multiple drug targets, but there is no successful therapy till date. In such miserable situation, nanomaterials could be used to prevent the infection before and after getting into the host body. The nanomaterials can be used in the form of nanoparticles, engineered drugs, Nano vaccines or nanomedicines. This chapter covers the use of nanotechnology for the development of therapeutic nanoparticles, nanocarriers, engineered drugs, vaccines, vaccine adjuvants as well as quantum dots to be used for the treatment and prevention of this infection.
