ABSTRACT

COVID-19 is a new pandemic challenge experienced worldwide. Extensive research is going on through all parts of the world to combat the virus. The virus genome has been explored, but still, no vaccine is available against the virus. Thus, search is under process to find out the effective treatment against COVID-19 to reduce the complications due to the disease as well as to reduce the mortality rate. The treatment strategy against COVID-19 is based on the mechanism of action of purposed drugs, their potential therapeutic outcomes, their safety profiles specifically related to the study design of proposed clinical trials. All the repurposed drugs are being trialed on the basis of previous data available and especially those drugs which showed positive outcomes against MERS and SARS are explored for their effectiveness against COVID-19. The treatment is segregated into two major categories, primary, and Adjunctive therapies. In the following section, the drugs included in both categories are discussed in detail along with their potential use against COVID-19.
